Banana Squash Cocktail

Go bananas and enjoy a simple but delightful cocktail.

Yes, bananas. When I make this cocktail I always think of the Minions Film and their obsession for bananas. The Banana Squash is one of those cocktails I always prepare when I have some ripe bananas left because my kids suddenly decided they don’t like them anymore. With the simplicity of making this cocktail is not a brainer to trow the fruit and not get used. If you like the bananas taste and Rum, you are in the right place to find out how to make this delicious cocktail.

The Banana Squash contains only three ingredients and is Rum based cocktail. You can make it with ripe bananas or brown bananas. Preparation of the cocktail before serving takes a couple of hours, but once ready; you are up for a yummy treat. The reason it takes time is that you have to soak the bananas in the Rum. You can use any Rum, white, spiced or aged. In mt case, I went for the beautiful Cargo Cult Banana Spiced Rum because of its flavour profile. This Rum is flavoured with bananas from North Queensland, alongside a selection of lip-smacking spices.

If you decide to go with brown bananas, you can store them in the refrigerator first to get the colour and then use them for this cocktail. For more recipe with Rum make sure to check my Cocktail Page.

*Squash (also called cordial or dilute) is a non-alcoholic concentrated syrup. It is used in beverage making. It is usually fruit-flavoured. Squash is made from fruit juice, water, and sugar.
