Je Suis – Proud Irish is one of mine signature cocktails based on Jameson Caskmate Irish Whiskey with fantastic citrusy and sweet honey notes. I create this cocktail for one of many competitions I take part all the time. Matthew Clark Ltd.and Pernod-Ricard organised this competition. All bartenders who take part had a task to create a cocktail with one of the products from the portfolio of Pernod-Ricard.
When I hear first about this competition, I jumped all over the place. It is simple to explain why I was so happy as one of my all-time favourites is Jameson Whiskey which is part of Pernod Ricard. Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition – triple-distilled, blended Irish Whiskey patiently finished in Irish craft beer-seasoned barrels. Sweet mouth coating typical of the Irish pot still inclusion is quickly complemented by the subtle touch of hops and cocoa beans. Beautiful finish with fantastic chocolate, butterscotch and great sweet taste.
Then another personal favourite of mine is Bénédictine D.O.M. Liqueur which is in Matthew Clark range. Bénédictine D.O.M. is an old liqueur but keeps a well-deserved place the modern bar. Its sweet honey and spice taste can be found in some of the best cocktails enjoyed today. The recipe for Bénédictine uses 27 plants and spices, and none of those dominates the blend. If you never try it, I strongly recommend to change this and give it a go.
Finally, another old school like me is the Martini but with their fresh Fiero (in Italian means Proud). The Martini did it again and this time with something unique and tasty; Vermouth flavoured with citrus and blood oranges. The vermouth still there but with big orangey and citrus zest. And, this is how the name for this cocktail comes up, combining Irish, French & Italian: Je Suis – Proud Irish.
Let’s not forget the Orange Blossom & Acacia Honey Chilled Tea. Simply boil dry Orange Blossoms and mix with Acacia Honey. If you are fancy you can drink the tea on its own because is delicious and good for your health. I am very happy with the result and for sure this cocktail going in my unique selection of favourite cocktails.
If you have a chance, try to make it and let me know what do you think. Cheers.
